Jeffrey W.Roth, president of Troy-based Roth Inc., remembers the day when a client called seeking an out-of-the-box solution to a project dilemma: how to sell a building to a potential buyer by creating a 28-foot interior clear height in an existing building with an 18-foot clear height.
The proposed solution, utilizing a patented synchronized hydraulic lifting method, was to raise a 24,000-square-foot section of roof approximately 10 feet above the surrounding 125,000-square- foot building. This "above-the-box" solution saved time and money for the eventual buyer, Exhibit Enterprises, a firm that creates multiple-story displays for such venues as the North American International Auto Show.
